I know that working with stone has to be very challenging--different densities, hardnesses, rates of expansion and contraction, compensating for sanding levels, and on and on.
I talked Mike Baranik into using malachite on a custom build for me. His parting comment when I picked up the guitar from him was:
You'd better take really good care of this guitar 'cause I'm never doing that again!"
