The Stage 3 bag in Dave's response is the same as the one I posted above. I am quite confident that it provides a level of protection not inferior to that provided by the hard case, due to the composite shell, but is not as "bendable" or lightweight as most gig bags. It is, however, much easier to transport than a hard case, with a variety of carry options, and a well-thought-out set of pockets and compartments.
