That should be a tough choice between two.
But if it came down to living with only one guitar it would be my 1942 Gibson J50. We have been together a long time so it feels and sounds like home to me. Perfect for me - a quick decay where the notes just leap off the strings and then get out of their own way, saturated mids, crisp highs and a low end which would make a pre-War Martin D28 Herringbone run for cover. Topping it all off is a round C neck clocking it at 1.06" at the 1st fret.
What I would change is an easy call. I would give it a more generous string spread at the bridge something like 2 5/16" to 2 3/8" which is what Gibson had gone with before 1941.
