Olive has been great to work with. It's a true hard wood, it bends easily, its close pored. The best part so far is the olive aroma wafting through the shop as its worked. I had always assumed that the wood would be oily but that's not been the case that I have found with this project. It has glued easily with no hint of glue / joint failure with PVA or Hot Hide Glue..
Tonally it has a good tap tone with a lower main frequency. We are still a month away from hearing it strung up.
