Fortunately, I was staying with my friend who has made and sold 50 or 60 (very nice) guitars in his spare time, and he has all of the tools, so he and I also did an unauthorized mod.

We reshaped the neck on the cedar C7. Cut it down to 1 3/4 inches at the nut and ran that width down to the 9th fret, at which point we tapered it to match the original width at the 12th.

Worked - sounds good. Doesn't look bad unless you know what to look for. Cost nothing and we had a great time.

Excellent experiment.

There's a long history of adapting instruments to musicians.

And not just inexpensive instruments.

Amongst famous 200-300 year old violins still being played in performances today, none have their original necks.

All have been replaced (some more than once) to address wear and tear, changing functional needs (neck angle etc), and changing tastes.

Cheers.
