It actually works, especially on things you're going to keep "limited" anyway.
I passed on a Shephard guitar once, and Danny (at APM) said that the guitar was worth more now than his current price, and that he was going to re-shoot the pictures and post it at a higher price, and that this would help it sell. Too low of a price made people think there had to be something wrong with it, according to him.
