I think you're wise to save for the Collings. Don't settle for the MT if you can get a good used MT2 within your budget. I have a 2016 wide nut Italian Spruce topped MT2 that is a great mandolin. A Collings is good for about any genre, and without scroll envy you will thoroughly enjoy the MT/MT2!
