I think most people don't realize that in this clip he is playing a right-handed guitar which was hastily restrung for a left handed player ... so the intonation is haywire .
Of course, when you "play with with more soul and feeling than most could hope to muster in two lifetimes ", small things like correct intonation and tuning don't matter.
