Increased use of striped ebony OR less dying black of striped ebony...?
There was a recent thread re some/much of ebony being dyed to a uniform black. Some on AGF were surprised, others thought it was nothing new. The quote was:

"On Nazareth made product, they will use ebony fingerboards and bridges in their natural state on most instruments going forward. This will mean that fingerboards and bridges may vary in appearance, and could show streaks in the wood or be brownish in color."

I think they've been using dyed striped ebony for some time. I guess the end result is the same though the phrase above suggests -IMHO- that Martin is eliminating the dying process & perhaps also expanding the acceptable ebony for sub 40 series. WTS I applaud efforts that promote more efficient use of natural resources, especially when the "sacrifice" is a cosmetic one.
