I don’t think I’ve ever seen a join as invisible as that and without an end graft. My vote would be to keep it as it is - no inlay - and let the wood speak for itself. But then I favour a more minimalist design aesthetic. If you were to add an inlay, the one you have prepared would work very nicely.
