Thanks for the suggestions so far. In addition to my D-40 I have a 000-17SM. I love it, but when you really attack it there's a muddiness that I don't like. But it has all the other qualities (lightweight, nut width, bridge spacing). I have a K&K PM in it. I read once that the A-bracing on this might contribute to the lack of clarity when hard strumming. Hence my search for a replacement to this.

The OM-28 MD has been the one on my radar so far, but I hear so much good about the OM-21s I'd really like to try one. And know I could get it for much less.

And Larrivee's have been in the consideration list for a while. I've never played one, but if they tend to have more the Martin sound vs. Taylor, that's good to hear.

And, I've never played a bad Yamaha. I'll have to look into that...
