I actually find nothing comforting or reassuring about David having literally died while on-stage.

He died on the road, removed from family, and far from home...and the audience now also will carry this difficult experience with them...

I mention this not to be contrary, but to frame David’s death differently than the “he died with his boots on” (as a good thing) perspective.

I see only tragedy here...
