The first thing that jumps out at me is that the 5 series is gloss and the # is satin. I'm sure that has something to do with it. Also, there is going to be some variation even between guitars in the same series. My daughter has a 362, the shading is definitely different than other 5 series guitars, but unless I put them in a room together and compare, the differences don't bother me. She and I like how they all look, so for us, this is just a different flavor. I am not sure how hard it is to remove a pickguard, and believe the newer the guitar is, the less you'll see a "tan line". Others with more knowledge may provide a better answer.
