Wow, Joe, this is going to be awesome!!!!

Good god that's a nice set of Brazilian. The guitar is shaping up nicely. My Mod D build should start not too long after yours is complete . . .

That Braz is OS (orifice spewing) grade. It doesn't get any better than that. Congratulations! I'm looking forward to more pics.

What material is used for the inlay that runs off the tangent?

Billy Boy 06-01-2012 08:06 PM

Absolutely beautiful, Joe!

I believe it's called "buckeye burl".

I will say it again -- that is some of the nicest looking Brazilian I've ever seen -- true Mastergrade quality. I've got about 4 sets equal in quality to this one Ray is using and they are incredibly difficult to procure.

Nice work on the rosette -- looks great!!!

Hey Joe,

I particularly like the body binding it seems to blend in beautifully.

If I ever go to the US, which I do hope to do soon, I will look you up, just to see this incredible guitar in person and hear the sound, who knows if I am lucky you may even let me play her for awhile!!

Best,

Keyshore

Thanks for your kind words, Simon.

You should show off your stash on the AGF more often... ;)

I love the rosette. Ray has designed many beautiful rosettes but this is my favourite of all. I asked him to make it wide and round -- and the rest was all his idea.

Hi Keyshore,

This guitar will be exhibited at the Montreal Guitar Show in just a few weeks.

And while I appreciate your kind words, I must point out there's no binding on the body just yet... ;)

Oh! I though there is some binding. I had seen a guitar built by our very own Paul Woolson, which has body binding the same wood as the back and sides and the effect was very good.

I think those folks who will be going to the Montreal show are in for a treat, both sonically and visually.

Folks may want to tune in a brand new video with Don Latarski playing one of Ray Kraut's guitars...

Larry Pattis is also featured in one of the videos. Wonderful playing and very informative! :)
