Curiosity question - if you decided to sell a guitar, what new (non guitar related) toy would you buy with the proceeds?

An ebike. A nice one like a Specialized.

But it would require selling all of my guitars except one. I'd probably keep the Yamaha FG800 since it's a pleasure to play and would not net many $$ if sold.

I’d rather keep all my guitars. I have enough less expensive toys, and the proceeds from selling one guitar won’t finance a really great and more expensive toy. And better than a toy (for me) would be a bucket list kind of vacation. Big bucks….

Well, I've sold guitars.

And then, bought OTHER guitars :D:D

Yeah I know, this answer is against the rules but what can I say?

Best,
PJ

Well my spending in not predicated by guitars so I guess the question as it applies to me is what else is it that I want other than guitars. An electric bicycle. I'll probably get one this summer and not sell a guitar to do it. I don't have my eye on any particular one right now though.

A better recording console than my current one.

Well, it's a perfectly reasonable question. but at my advanced age, there aren't many things that I would need to sell a guitar in order to buy.

In 1975, I had a 1915 Gibson L-3 and a 1927 Martin 2-17 both in remarkably good condition.

I had to move for a new job in my company which made it possible to buy my first property - a one bedroom apartment.

The monthly mortgage payments at the time were not far less than my take home pay, so I had to sell them both (and my Martin dread) to pay the bills.

That really hurt! and I'd still like to replace them - especially the Gibson L-3.

The only other things that I've sold a guitar to buy was ... another guitar.

Many of my advanced years are "liquidating their excess collection, and I'll admit that I have some lovely pieces that I don't use much now, but with inflation so high, I reckon that wood is a better investment than cash in the bank.

Id buy a steak and a dozen eggs:eek:

I'm set for life on guitars - a SCGC, Collings electric, Telecaster and a Little Martin.

In the spirit of the post and timing I'd say my second pair of new skis this season or maybe bindings because my new boots (GripWalk standard) don't work with my old ski bindings.

A better telescope or photography gear. Probably a star tracking mount.

Parts to build a new gaming PC, not that I've been thinking about it. :D

DCCougar 01-24-2023 02:21 PM

I want a Maserati. Selling a guitar isn't really going to help the situation.

Like "PJ" up top if I sell a guitar it's usually followed by buying another one. But not always?
