Rainsong advanced vs other
Haven't dug too much on Rainsong, but do need to drag a guitar around and may consider these guitars.
The advanced series (odd word) appear cheaper. What's all that about. How does the sound compare. Also, best store for used Rainsongs. Stuart |
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the Advanced Series have wood back and sides, and a graphite top.
The Original Series are 100% graphite everywhere. You should double-check on their website. |
The Advanced series are all graphite, like the classic Rainsong
(the ones with wood back and sides were the Projection series, now discontinued). I was one of the first owners of an Advanced series guitar, and I can compare it to the classic Rainsong s because I owned both. The Advanced series is an excellent guitar for the price, with the signature Rainsong sound. But there are two differences with the classic Rainsong : the Advanced Series are not as loud as the classic, and, they are heavy, while the classic are light. If these two features (volume and weight) are not too important for you, I believe you could be happy with a Rainsong Advanced Series. |
thanks,
Now I feel I would need to play them. Which is a pain if buying used over net. I could get a great used hand made or small production guitar (collings or goodall) for what you need to pay for the regular rainsong new. I know I'd be limited to more beaten up goodalls, but who cares if you're going to drag it around anyway. I presume you don't need a calton case if air travel with a rainsong. To protect. That should be factored in I guess. thanks again for the feedback Stuart |
