It depends on your genre and playing style.

BR's are typically much louder with a fatter bottom end - excellent for styles like Bluegrass. I played a BR40a not long ago and it was a beast.

The Yamaha will be more balanced in tone and may be a better fit for singer songwriter stuff.

Yeah if you play bluegrass then Blueridge is a good bet. The A models, which you can get used in your range, can be great for that. Someone was selling a BR40AS in the classified here recently, NFI.

If i'm not mistaken, the Blueridge has a 1-11/16" nut vs 1-3/4" for the Yamaha -- if that matters.

The Adi topped BRs have the 1 3/4”

The Yamaha will be 44mm which is just about 1 3/4". Blueridge are nice if you can get over the godawful headstock bling.
