"Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak

I have always loved this song and finally decided to see what I could do with this. I hope I have done the song justice. :)

The acoustic guitar is my Gibson Advanced Jumbo (2002 Luthier's Choice), the electric guitar is a Fender Stratocaster Pro II, and the bass is a neck-thru Carvin.

Thank you for watching! :)

Absolutely beautiful, Glenn! Love the drippy reverb on the Strat! Classic tune and as always, you made me smile.

Thank you Marty!

How nice of you to jump in so quickly and listen to this! Thank you for your kind encouragement!

This is a hard song to sing; I put in a fair amount of time practicing the lead vocal because it's so easy to go flat on those lower vocal lines. And making that jump to falsetto on the chorus takes practice, too.

There is a lot of drippy reverb on that Strat! :D To me, this is such on old fashioned sound from my youth. The lead vocal, too, has a fair amount of reverb to sort of duplicate that old late 50s, early 60s sound of rockabilly.

I'm so glad this made you smile, Marty! That in itself is a great vote of confidence from you!

I hope all is well and that you and your wife enjoy the coming Xmas season. :)

Thank you Frank!

I very much appreciate your watching and your kind and supportive comments!

Yes, I am very lucky to have that really nice blue Strat! It sure has wonderful pickups, and that neck pickup, used on this song, really has a nice warm, round sound! And as you say, it's certainly a pretty guitar!

It was fun to work on this cool song from 1989! Thanks for the good wishes! We enjoyed our Thanksgiving! I hope all was good for yours, too, Frank! :)

Great job on both the playing and the singing!

Wow! Your playing is fantastic, and thank you for recording this great song.

As impressive as you’re playing is, I have to say I was more impressed by your singing voice on the high falsetto. That is very difficult and you really nailed it.

Regarding the guitar playing, the acoustic guitar rhythm part is very easy -- |Bm|A| E | E | -- over and over again. It never varies throughout the entire song. :) It's interesting that Chris Isaak could create such a mood oriented song like this with just three chords and no variation throughout the song. The song works because of what he was able to do with his voice.

The electric guitar part is really nice and took me a little practice to get down. But even then, once a person puts in the time to learn the part, it's not terribly difficult.

You are right, though, that the hard part of this song is the vocal part. I wasn't really sure I could pull it off, because as you say, the falsetto part is a little demanding, especially at my age in my mid-70s. I put in some practice for several days until I could start to get close to what Chris Isaak did.

Thank you for noticing all this stuff! It's a real pleasure to receive your generous comments!

I hope all is well for you and your family! Enjoy the holidays coming up! :)

Great work Glenn. I don’t think I have heard you sing low before - sounds great, especially the contrast with the falsetto. You pull it off like a pro.

Thank you Neil!

Yes, the low parts of the song really do create a huge contrast with the higher stuff. There is about 2 1/2 octaves of notes in there, and Chris Isaak was able to pull it off because he started out in such a low register. He also had -- maybe still does (he's 66 years old now) -- a beautiful sounding falsetto.

I could only hope to come close to what Chris Isaak did. Thank you for your kind words! And thank you for listening!

I hope you are doing well! Enjoy Christmas in Scotland! :)

Great job on this! I'm always in awe of your video making abilities!

Absolutely one of your very best, Glenn! Such a smooth production.....and when I heard your first low notes, I too thought...."ok, he's going for it" on the other end. :) Perfect on all those high notes!
Just great Glenn!

You hope you’ve done the song justice? Are you kidding? That was just wonderful! I enjoyed it immensely. You never cease to impress, Glenn.
