Vox made a similar electric instrument in the 60s.

Got one of the latter on my list, as soon as I can clear out some low-use stock I've accumulated over the years...

I'm not knocking the Gryphon at all. I'd love to own one as well as the 12 string Terzilla. Joe makes great instruments. The Flyer is great too.
