Octave guitar scale maximum

Does anyone here build an octave guitar (E to E a full octave above standard tuning)? I’m
Considering trying to build use on uke platform but want to have a scale suitable for my slightly big hands.

I’ve seen them mostly like 13”ish, but a 15 is commercially available from Gold Tone. I have access to 16 and 17” templates and that I’m sure is comfortable it’s tenor uke territory, anything smaller seems too cramped.

Will it tune up and have playable tension at 16-17? Anyone make one? Played one? Have thoughts on the matter?

Thanks.

Joe Veillette's Merlin is tuned E-e a full octave above standard and is 16.3" scale length.

His Gryphon is 18.1" scale and tuned D-d.

Forgot about the Merlin...I have had a gryphon and it’s great.

Thx!
