NGOD - Emerald Content....
 

New Guitar Order Day. I had toyed with the idea of ordering an Emerald and then picking it up at the factory during an Acoustic Guitar Magazine trip for my 70th birthday in May. For varied reasons, I decided not to go, but still clung to the idea of ordering a somewhat special Emerald for the occasion of being seven decades young. I didn't go hog wild with my order but specified the following:

X30 body
Black Limba top shown below
Black body
Black GOTOH 510 tuners
No electronics
All the rest pretty standard stuff

I've included shots of the actual top and what finished Black Limba looks like. Ray(sachs) had mentioned that Emerald's darker tops don't show up so well under normal light so I opted for Black Limba which appears a bit lighter. And now the wait begins...

Nice veneer pattern! Settle in for the wait, and laugh at the agitators. That looks like a fitting treat to yourself for this auspicious occasion - congrats!

I have no idea what the Captain is referring to when he mentions agitators. There will, of course, be questions like "is it there yet? Did you stock up on sake? You know that sometimes guitars get marooned in customs? Are you aware that tracking numbers often seem to stop at the border?" And so forth.

But not to worry. To my knowledge it has never taken more than a year to receive an order. Relax, take it easy. It's on its way and will get to you, eventually.

Thanks Capt. Jim & Evan. Actually, I think it will be an easier wait for this than it was for my X20 or X20-12 because it's delivery is so far off into the future. Given the current state of my short term memory these days, I could easily forget that I ordered it...

I kinda figured when you started asking for examples of Emerald veneer tops that it wasn't just out of academic interest. Something was clearly cooking.
