In truth, luthiery is a very visually appealing activity. Combine that with the right set of characters and drama, and there's no reason it couldn't be as compelling as shows about fishermen, bike builders, gold miners and loggers.
In fact you could do a little logging as part of the show!

Well let me tell you, we get a lot of characters in our shop too...some even have all their teeth. It's sounds like we just need some backing to get this off the ground. Feel free to join the upcoming "Kinnairdly Believe It!" Kickstarter at the Executive Producer level for some days on the set.

Well, we've finished the first "shop" guitar of the year. We'll see how long it sticks around. There will be a detailed Marketplace thread on all the specs at some point, but the highlights are that it is a Sitka/Bubinga CS with Honduran RW bindings and rosette and Indian RW peghead. 25.4" scale, light strings.

Thanks for watching the build (such as it was) and I hope you like the pics. We'll try to get it recorded before too long, so you can hear its well-balanced voice. The trebles are some of the clearest we've heard in a while.

Very pretty, that bubinga really comes alive with the finish, love the neck and headstock as well. I am sure it sounds fantastic.

Thanks guys! It does sound good. I don't know what it is about it, but our CS model to my ear sounds very focused. It has good overtones and everything, but it's like every note just cuts through. I like it. Clean and clear.

That's lovely work. Bubinga is very pretty. I prefer this figure over the waterfall stuff, which always looks like brain matter spread on a plate to me.

How does it sound? My bubinga HG has a very balanced tone, a little on the dry side but not as dry as mahogany. Curious if that's common or what.

Rog, Probably similar to what you're hearing. Definitely not as dry as Mahogany, but not quite the fullness of overtones as Rosewoods. Bubinga is called from time to time African Rosewood, but while it has some nuance to its timbre, it doesn't quite reverb like a rosewood. It sounds great for what it is though. Dense and bright, it gives a bell-like quality across the scale. I would think this instrument would be a dream to record with.
