Audio-Technica AT8024 Review

Hi,

Some folks not interested in getting into high end mics might find this helps their videos sound better.

Great review Ty, the band video is pretty impressive for a live situation camera position recording the vocals are clear and the blend of instruments is fine. . And one question, in the outside video, what is a "Garfield" wind protection item ?

Ty Ford 07-19-2017 08:25 AM

A dead cat...... :)

Ty

OK if you say so, wouldn't that start to smell ?
Seriously I am a relative newbie to video recording and honestly have no clue what a "garfield" type wind screen might be .

Furry, fuzzy, dead cat, dead kitty (smaller than a cat) all pretty much the same in location audio parlance.

Ty

I surmised it was a windscreen from the video
I googled and apparently "Dead Cat" is actually a name Rode uses, but basically it appears to be a synthetic fur as opposed to foam

I use a Sony HDR MV1. It has a spot for a remote mic, but I've never tried that feature. Can you use these mic's for up close sound hole kind of recording? I'm miss that tone and would love to have that on the Sony camera. Their mic's are great for what they are, but not like mic'ing an acoustic up close.

Hmm, Puerto,

Lemme see what I can do with that idea.......The AT8024 even has a low cut filter.....hmmmm

Thanks,

Ty

Did you ever give it a try?

Not yet.
