TreeHouse Guitar Ziricote OM build thread

Hi folks! Thought I might do a build thread of my upcoming guitar which will be my demo instrument at the Vancouver International Guitar Festival - I have a few interesting ideas I will be incorporating, hope you enjoy them!

Thanks Matthew!
I'll post a picture and explanation of the rosette - it was fun sourcing the material for it. :)

Who knew fungus could be so pretty?! Chlorociboria aeruginascens fungus is what caused this pin cherry wood to turn green. I was able to use the variety of colours in the rosette - should look amazing under a French polish finish!

Isn't it?!? I am surprised I haven't seen it used as inlay or rosette material before - such a beautiful, vivid colour! :)

The finished rosette - I find that my favourite rosettes are the simple ones that show off a bit of what nature can do. Nature never ceases to amaze me!

Where'd you come across it?

It's a fungus that attacks several different local species of rotting wood including this cherry, oak, some maple, poplar and tag alder (those are the ones I know of, I'm sure there are many more). I spent a lot of time in the bush as a kid and was always stumbling over this stuff. Now I'm using it in my guitars! These pieces were pretty punky but nothing a lot of super thin cyanoacrylate won't fix.
Pretty stuff to say the least, I think anyways.

Odds are it can be found around where you live. Where are you located Dion?
