Martin liquid metal pins.

Will you be able to buy these pins separately, as in a set of 6, or will they only come exclusively with the new modern models?

Unlikely, according to the article below. But, according to Diane Ponzio of C. F. Martin, they give you an extra 40dB! You'll have the loudest guitar in history:D

Like most marketing I strongly suspect more hype than reality.

That has to be a typo from 4db. As an example, 10db is generally considered to be twice the volume. Needless to say 40db would be astounding.

The only metal I know of that is liquid at room temperature is mercury. Your guitar will become an instant hazmat site. And the pins will dribble away depending on its position.

+10 dB is considered to be twice as loud subjectively. A 4 dB change is on the fringe of being noticeable under most conditions to most listeners. 40 dB require a pickup and an amplifier. Anytime someone reports "....40 more dB's...." you can immediately tell that they don't know what they are talking about.

According to the following article, they will be available separately for about $150.

You'll be able to buy them on eBay from China in the near future. They will be a lot cheaper like everything else they supply.

Considering that bridge pins likely have zero, or almost zero effect on the sound of a guitar, I don't think it would be worth spending $150 on them!

Maybe they're so super advanced technologically speaking that they transfer to the strings a sort of magnetic draw towards plastic picks that helps guide errant picks to hit intended strings everytime. So compared to a missed pick stroke that produces 0 decibels of sound, the innovative patent pending liquid metal bridge pins result in 100% picking accuracy at at least a 40 decibel level.

I also heard from reputable sources that in order to buy and use the liquid metal bridge pins you have to sign a contract with the devil relinquishing your soul because use of the bridge pins inevitably results in rock n roll star status in which you will date nothing but super models, put your able bodied parents into a nursing home, and develop a cocaine habit before making a comeback in a reality TV series about renovating wedding dresses in a tiny house off the grid.

Buyer Beware!!!!!!

Well that price would stop me buying a set!

There must be something about them though if Martin are using them and claiming such a volume boost, can't all be hype surely..

Liquid metal is simply amorphous, non crystalline material that can be injection molded. I am in the medical field and we are looking at it as a cost effective alternative to machined metal parts. I can’t imagine any benefit of these pins over any other, except looks, if you like them.

These seem like the appropriate bridge pin for the guy who eats nails for breakfast.
I'm hoping they make these pins for acupuncture so they can finally balance my yin and yang. Last acupuncture session was on a waterbed, and I almost drowned.

Martin claims 4-5 db not 40. Diane, or whoever wrote that for her, wrote it incorrectly.

That is not Diane Ponzio of C. F. Martin quoting in the article. That is some unknown person, on another forum, stating that he heard or read that, "according to Diane Ponzio of C. F. Martin, they give you an extra 40dBand" and probably misquoted.
