He’s lifting it up. You can’t trust Burton. He’s very sneaky.

I love this guitar and thread and imagine if there was a one-award greatest guitar in the world 2017, this has to be it.

HOWEVER, I assumed since it looks like such a tough and stout lil number, that it weighed something significant. How. Is. This. Possible? Is that weight without the neck? Or maybe it was weighed in less than 1atm? Burton has a spacecraft and he weighed it in there? Somewhere near the moon?

I didn’t think about it, but you might be right, it might be without the neck. Burton will chime in and clarify. But he’s and engineer and is known for squeezing weight out of seemingly inexplicable places :)

Hey guys- Sorry for the delay. Nope, that is the whole weight, with neck, tuners, everything. I checked it again this morning just to be sure.

It is a SMALL guitar- 12 inch lower bout and skinny. Also, keeping it featherweight was kind of the point. :) Every decision had that in mind.

Interestingly, I have a OO sized guitar in Honduras rosewood I am finishing at the same time- That one is almost exactly 1 pound heavier.

The little guitar should get strings tonight!!!!!

Wowza! That's all I can say.

That is an unusual looking guitar, very cool

Burton LeGeyt 10-25-2017 01:11 PM

Oh man, I really need a Hatcher type photo setup- They don't look blurry on the phone but there you go- I guess you don't keep a camera in your pocket for a reason :)

I will have some really nice photos to share after Woodstock. I have the whole booth and light setup but just can't leave it setup.

SOOO glad to finally have strings on this little guy and give it a few strums. Made my day for sure. Hopefully some of you will stop by and see it up close in a few days.

This is a milagro de Navidad to have this project come together after all our mental machinations!

The thing I'm most proud of is to be able to share your insane skill with AGF and have the peeps at Woodstock play this masterpiece. You were right to talk me out of the Ditson and into the concave renaissance. Great call on your part.

I'm not blowing smoke AGF, Burton is the best under-the-radar luthier on earth. Place a commission, and I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
