Elixir mediums ok on new x7 and x20?

I have been using lights but wondered if anyone was using mediums on these guitars and the effect and any concerns about the heavier gauge. I can’t find on emerald’s site any string gauge info about what came on them and I didn’t check before swapping out.

Thanks

Im using .13s on my x7 anything less feels way too floppy. Can't imagine that this guitar won't be strong enough for them

No worries. These guitars are STRONG. Here is what I posted recently in Kupuna's thread about his twelve string:
My X20-12 currently has D'Addario EJ-38's (47-10) on it right now. I took off the factory strings (EJ-37, 54-12) immediately to put a fresh set on X20-12 and my Taylor twelve string, for direct comparison. Those are done now, and will be replaced by Elixir's - I have a set of Polyweb strings sitting here. I'm not a fan of changing twelve strings.....

That original EJ-37 set was tuned E-e from the factory, but is intended (I think) to be tuned down to C# or D. Those strings were HEAVY at standard pitch, and a handful to play for even cowboy chords. The X20 did not flinch with 335 pounds of tension originally, down to 165 pounds when removing the octave strings (leaving essentially a light gauge six string 54-12 set at 165 pounds) or going back to the EJ-38 set (250 pounds). There was no need to change the truss rod for any configuration.

Running JP New Mediums on both my X7 and X20. Awesome. No issues.

Agree with all the above. I have an older (2010) X7 with an un-reinforced neck, and with light strings I tend to get an annoying 'thump', so I've been using .13s on it with for three or four years with nary a blip in the action.
