Your Favorite Electric Guitar Model.

What's your favorite electric guitar model? Many of us have a few favorites and it may depend on the application but if you could only have one what would it be? Include the pickup configuration and any tweaks if it's different than the usual model. Assume you have the amp you want to pair it with.

I'm torn between the Gibson Les Paul and the SG but I'd go with a Les Paul as my one and only.

What about you?

I am happy with a LP Jr. and TV Special. I love the sound of P 90s. My SG with ThroBak PAFs covers the Humbucker tone.

I've got three Epiphone Les Pauls (black, white and cream) and one Gibson Studio, so I'd have to say the LP configuration is my favorite.

A tele type. I prefer it with a well balanced neck humbucker. For me specifically it's a semi-hollow ASAT Bluesboy. My #2 is a standard ASAT Classic. Sometimes I just want that neck single coil.

Gibson SG Standard.

Although I share a special bond with my Fender Telecaster, it's hard going past my Fender Stratocaster in terms of ergonomics, sound versatility and an added vibrato arm.

Your Favorite Electric Guitar Model.

The guitar I longed for when I was a teenager was a sunburst Fender Strat - my biggest influences were Mark Knopfler, Dave Gilmour and Alex Lifeson. Two out of three had that classic Fender sound and left their mark.

In my late twenties, at the end of college, I got my US Strat and I still have it today. Two years ago I managed to pair it with my dream amp, Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb (reissue, I ain’t that lucky...).

There are others in the herd: my G&L ASAT Classic semi hollow is the best electric I own in terms of playability and build quality; my 335 is...well...my 335 (ie what’s not to love about it!); and of course everyone should have a Tele.

For me the Strat is the one. Mine is all standard except for a metal end instead of the plastic on the whammy bar! Put it on there many years ago and wouldn’t change it now!

Strat - SSS. Hardtail preferred but I'm fine with decking a tremolo also. Gotta immobilize that bridge one way or the other, though. Been playing primarily strats since 1979 - I've had a second electric from time to time, but a strat has always been my #1 and always gotten 90% plus of my playing time. They just always struck me as how an electric guitar was supposed to sound and play.

A hot wired Strat is my favorite. I can get Tele and even Les Paul dual humbucker sounds with it. I love a Les Paul but they are bloody heavy. The SG is a nice light weight guitar easy to handle.

Gretsch for me.

Gibson Les Paul Special closely followed by a Gibson ES335. I own both as well as a Strat and a Telecaster.

Gibson ES-335 followed by Gibson Les Paul.

PRS McCarty Thinline.

If the band is too loud for a full sized Archtop guitar, then it's my Gibson 335 for me. Comfort, tone, and Red!
