Killer Deadwood Black Locust Grand Concert Guitar
https://soundcloud.com/jesse-matty/s...-locust-guitar
Up for sale is fine handmade guitar from Deadwood guitars based locally in the good ol’ US of A , in Athens , GA. This Grand Concert (I believe that what it’s called the actual dimensions are below). The top is wide grained hemlock top for a wonderful bass response. The back and sides are black locust and they came from the 2nd largest black locust tree ever felled east of the Mississippi. Black locust sounds very close to Brazilian Rosewood with out all of the import restrictions. This uses Jason’s of deadwood guitars patented spider bracing system for increased sustain and evenness of volume across the tonal spectrum. This guitar is a fingerpickers dream. Sweet tone and deep rich bass out of a smaller bodied guitar. . With the most sustain I’ve heard on any acoustic. This rivales any martin, taylor, or gibson as far as tone goes. Here are the full specs. Wide grain hemlock top (for increased bass response). Black locust back and sides. Maple Binding. Patented Spider Bracing. Offset Deadwood logo soundhole with a side sound port cut at the upperbout of the bass side. 3 piece pecan neck. Spalted pecan fretboard. Pinless black walnut bridge. Black walnut pickguard. Gotoh Tuners (the 6th string tuner is smaller than the other 5). LR -Baggs Element Active Pick -Up system installed with side loading battery holder that is slightly chewed up. lower bout 15.75” upper bout 11.5” waist 10” scale 25” nut width 1 3/4" string spacing at saddle 2 3/8" 1st string action at 12th fret 3.1 mm 6th string action at 12th fret 4.1 mm The only flaws on this guitar are some coloration of the freatboartd , the smaller 6th string tuner, and the battery holder is slightly chewed up. What an interesting guitar!
Black locust makes a really nice tonewood. Owned one and played another. |
Thanks!
This is one killer sounding instrument. I just prefer larger bodies now. This will make someone who likes smaller bodies very happy. |

Cool guitar. I really like what he’s doing with local woods. We visited his shop a couple years back; he was really nice.
