Renting a harp guitar?
 

Was wondering if there are any places that allows you to rent harp guitar on monthly bases?

I have no idea about renting, but if you just want to check one out in person, looks like Gryphon has one in stock, a Tonedevil S-12.

I doubt there's anyplace where one could "rent" a harp guitar on a monthly basis? Most all harp guitars are custom made, and super expensive. Rental instruments are usually lower tier models, which can be replaced easily in case of mishaps... Good luck!

You're probably correct. I'll see if I can try it at Gryphon and see if I'm even remotely interested. If I am, I can get the starter one for $1K and see how it goes.

Great idea - I'd love to get my hands on one for a bit to see whether I'd get on with one.

My guess is that your best bet would be to find someone who has one that they're prepared to lend to you. So there'd probably need to be a lot of trust and/or a lot of cash/deposit!

cokezero - Fred Carlson, in Santa Cruz, builds harp guitars and other unusual instruments.

A long shot, but perhaps check with him to see if he has any in his personal collection that he would be willing to do a short term rental on.

As others have said, however, a harp guitar is not a typical rental instrument, so good luck.

Here's the advice that I gave the OP. I would rent my Emerald harp guitar, providing that the obvious arrangements were made for deposits. However the easier way to go, is to buy a Timberline Harp guitar from Gregg Miner. You can get a basic model for approx.$1000. If you don't like it or if harp guitar is not for you it would be easy to sell for a small discount. All the reviews that I have seen give these guitars high marks.

I agree. Just buy one and after you are done, then you can resale it. The difference will be your rent.
