2008 Bourgeois Custom D, Adi/Rosewood-SOLD

2008 Bourgeois Custom D, original TKL OHSC with key. Excellent condition. Adirondack top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, forward shifted scalloped X bracing, maple bridge plate, slotted bridge pin holes. It has been played, but there is little evidence, light swirls and light marks in the pick guard area, otherwise no cracks, issues, etc.. As clean as it is, it has been played, so I don't claim it is "like new" or "mint," but it seems exceptionally clean for being ~13 years old. Visually this guitar is very attractive from the straight grained woods to the decorative Bourgeois Signature appointments. It is just a really nice, high quality guitar that plays well, sounds great, and has no issues. Please closely examine the images and ask any questions you may have. Reason for selling is simply reducing number of "keeper" guitars.

Beautiful guitar. 2008 was when Drew Heinonen was working with Bourgeois. Hmm. Thinkin' about this one! BUMP

Bracing Question

In response to a bracing question, X-bracing is forward shifted, measures 1" from 3.946" diameter soundhole. A view of the bracing pattern and an example of how it is voiced is shown in the YouTube Bourgeois video linked below.

I'm curious about your use of the phrase "sweet-sounding", as I tried two Bourgoeis Generation dreads that sounded anything but "sweet". They were very assertive, "masculine" sounding instruments that to my ear, traded "sweetness" for power. Could you say a bit more about the tone of this guitar?

Thanks,

Stuart

When I wrote, "Bump for a dynamic, sweet sounding, loud guitar from a top notch builder," it was an off-hand comment, and perhaps "sweet" was a poor word choice as compared to "great" since it is more implicit although we all know guitar sound descriptors are so subjective. To my ear, when compared to some other fine dreads I have played/own/owned (D-28 Marquis, D-35, J-40, TD-R, D2H), this particular guitar is relatively sweeter. I don't know how the Custom D might compare to a Gen D.

My opinion, for whatever its worth, is that this a superb, high quality dreadnaught that represents Bourgeois as a builder very well.
