Sycamore anyone ?
|
Nice!
I have a sweet sycamore back and sides set put aside for when I get a few more builds under my belt. |
My apologies for the picture sizing . Maybe someone could direct me as to how to change this . This is something unique to this site for me . Thanks .

Cool, I have one (similar in size to that tree) on my property and I've been threatening to harvest it for a couple years now.
|
At the widest point of the trunk bell , this one measures 53" across . It does taper to a rough 36" from there and up . The base section is too heave and large for me to have handled with what I had to do so . I designed and installed a beam , trolley and hoist . I still need to raise the beam another 4-6" in order to have enough space to clear my truck bed with pieces like the largest of these .
There's always something . Oh well , I am now at the point where my chainsaw and I can have some fun . :) My thanks to whoever resized my photos . |
That looks like a nice big tree. Are you going to be selling sets?
|
A bit of progress . The largest sections were too large for what I had to handle them , so I needed to improvise and it worked .
After this , billets will be sectioned out of the wedges and sent to the kiln .' Backs https://i.imgur.com/mgS2J0i.jpg Sides https://i.imgur.com/6DyKJK7.jpg Would someone please resize these for me ? Thanks again . |
Heh. A local store has an SCGC H/13 in sycamore (all of it, top, back, sides, neck, everything) that's pretty amazing. And it's gorgeous.

The fingerboard and bridge are ebony, but top/back/sides/neck/headplate are sycamore. It’s gorgeous.
