Marble Halls {video added}

This tune is written by William Balfe (19th century).

Its in DGDGBD tuning, capo 5th fret.

I recorded with 2 small condenser mics, an AKG Perception 150 on the treble and a MXL 991 at the bridge. Its played on the Avalon.

It is played by William Coulter on his Celtic Crossing CD. He and his associates do a really nice job with it. Here it is on YouTube

I put about 8 hours into this over 4 days, but I think it might take a bit more to get close to William Coulter's rendition, :)

Here's a slide show too! :)

Hi Barry!

Very nice! William Coulter has done some good stuff. I learned to play one of his songs from Celtic Crossings some years ago, a really nice album.

Well done on this!

That was very well done both playing and production. Congrats Barry.

Thanks Glenn! I like this CD. His Celtic Sessions CD is good too, but notation isn't available.

Thanks Peter.

If I manage to get the sdc mics in the right place they sound crisp. If I don't they sound sort of brittle.
