They are both stellar. The Lutz top on the OO is one of the most beautiful I have seen with silking on top of silking. It has movement when you look at it similar to what you see with a quilted maple or sapele. The walnut speaks for itself. It has a fantastic sound and is so comfortable to play and beautiful to look at that it was hard to put down. I love that size. Now, I fell in love with the OM. If I did not have two guitars to pay for right now, I can sincerely and very honestly say that guitar would not have left my house. I was talking to Steve and although I could not really put my finger on it, but once in a while you find a guitar that just has that extra something that puts it over the top of all the other great ones. Whether it just happens that the top and back work perfectly together or one more swipe of the plane on the bracing or just some magic, they just become special. I don't like to talk too much about my collection, but I have some really nice guitars made by some of the best luthiers going today, we compared this guitar to all of them and I feel comfortable saying, there were not many, if any, that could match this guitar. If anyone is looking for the guitar of a lifetime, either of these would be likely to fit that bill, but this BRW/Italian is for sure one of the best I have ever played or heard. Congrats Steve and Ryan on a job well done on both of these guitars. It just makes the hurt of cancelling B.I.G. worse as it denied many folks the chance that I had to play both of these guitars. |

Thanks Tom, Kathy and Natalie. You guys are truly some of the best friends the modern guitar has--not to mention friends to those who make them. Steve |
That is an exceptional guitar Ryan and Stephen! Appreciated the choice in music as well. Thank you!

Just went back and listened to this beautiful Swiss/Caramel BRW again.
Very sweet sounds on a sweet guitar, guys--thanks! Maybe we'll see it in September if she isn't snatched up before then! |

Took a couple of new pics for our 2020 B.I.G. guitars. I hope you like them. They are both available now over in the Marketplace. Thanks.

Staying safe in my home currently, but I'm ready to get back into the shop whenever the governor decides I'm essential again. Until then, check out the link in my signature to see some specials we're running. Be well everyone!

Nice mask! In this time on quarantine, seems all GAS’ers think about is: ‘what guitar should I commission next?’
|
Like the mask Ryan. Perfect fit!

Great mask
You got me thinking about making my own. I believe it would be cool to put a nose and an open mouth like it was an extension of your own face. Since I live in Appalachia in my mask there would only be about three teeth an they would be black. |
Here's not a new guitar, but one we haven't featured on here before. I've put in in our Isolation Indulgence specials in the Marketplace, but I thought the regular Custom Shop people would like to take a look at it as well.
It's a Sitka/Mahogany 12 fret 12 string SJ that we built for the 2011 Healdsburg Guitar Festival. It's surprisingly warm for an instrument known for its jangle. The tobacco burst on the top helps to set off the unbelievable color of the ropey African Mahogany back and sides. Highly quilted Sapele set off the instrument's bindings and peghead, and we got fellow luthier Burton LeGeyt to make custom tuner buttons. Steve designed a 12 fret inlay to complete the design. Hope you enjoy it! https://i.postimg.cc/nHVGvWNP/16F8FF...E1C358BB47.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/M6v0LQ60/D9CBA6...94EECEF7F7.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/kqrNjGk8/5F377F...5154C9E2E9.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Cw7jLNdH/1E0D6F...1CE1F0CB95.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/0xKddDHP/12546D...72D7006B3C.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/pW4QMLrw/D70B92...F5F4F18439.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/hKcLBw4t/50A1E9...8183DEA24B.jpg Thanks for looking! |
