3/4 size or full size classical guitar? Which to buy?

Hi, Im looking to buy an entry level classical guitar (probably a Yamaha C40 ).
I was just wondering what differences there are between a full size and 3/4 size guitar (apart from one being smaller )? Are 3/4 size guitars just for kids or is there any reason why an adult would choose a 3/4 size guitar ie, sound and or playability etc...
Please excuse me if this has been discussed already, if so please re-direct me to that thread.
Cheers.

There's been about half a dozen entry level 3/4 size guitars in history that actually played in tune.

An adult should have no problem handling a full sized classical, and there's dozens of good, inexpensive options from Yamaha, La Patrie, and Cordoba.

I've always considered them for the smaller hands of children. If you're a normal sized adult I'd suggest full size.

I would buy full size. You can handle it.

Full Size is that way to go.

OK thanks everybody, that seems conclusive:)

I'd consider a short scale guitar though, unless you have massive hands. Less stretching results in less tension, which is a good thing for your body and for the music.

Have a look at the Cordoba C5 Dolce. It is ever so slightly a smaller body than the full sized C5, which is a fantastic entry level/beginner classical guitar. It has a 630mm scale length, which equates roughly to a 24 3/4 in scale (Gibson-like). The nut width is just a couple mm narrower than standard. Tone wise I don’t think the Dolce would suffer much. The difference in size is minimal but the shorter scale might make the transition to the wide neck of a classical guitar easier on big chord stretches.. Cordoba has two more models of this same size, but higher up on their quality level and both are all solid. They are the C9 Parlor and C10 Parlor. You should not have any problems with a full size classical, should you choose to go that direction. The selection of guitars would be far greater.

I think I will go for the full sized Yamaha CX40 (a C40 with a pickup). I have done some research and it seems like a good budget guitar thats not too difficult to play and I like the sound of it that I heard on Youtube. So unless I get many replies advising me that im making a really bad choice I think I will go ahead and get one. :guitar:

Just ordered a Yamaha CX-40 (fingers crossed).

I now have the Yamaha, it arrived unharmed in a huge box and the guitar does not disappoint and I have no trouble playing it even with my small hands  :guitar:
