Strap button on a harp guitar?
Have any of y'all installed strap buttons on your harp guitars? The "normal" spot on the heel seems like it would be a little awkward, but I want to be able to play mine standing up.
Any suggestions? |
I have mine in the normal spot, but I have not mastered the act of standing and playing harp guitar.

Well, I haven't mastered *playing* it either sitting OR standing!

I put the strap button is in the usual spot, downside of the guitar neck heel (as per Rob Smith at Timberline), and it works just fine. Because of the extra weight I'm using a 2-layer 3.5" strap (instead of my usual preferred single strip 2.5" straps) but the only real issue for me has been that the guitar neck is further away than I usually like it. But I'm getting used to it... Phil |
Thanks...bottom side of the heel it is. Much like a Martin, I guess?

You guys should have AGF harp guitar club. Fascinating.

Yep - it's a Timberline! Thanks so much for passing that on!

Bottom side of the heel works great on my Timberline as well.

My guitar is pretty fragile so I have it the old school way. If I need to stand which really isn’t that often, I use a planet waves quick release strap. It goes underneath the sympathetic strings above the nut. Gives me more room on the heel of the regular guitar neck, and I’m not chancing any structural problems or changing anything on an all original instrument.
