Interesting strap adapter for acoustic guitars with an end jack.
I am trying one of these tonight on my J45 and thought it appears to be a simple solution.

That does look cool. On my Halcyon, I ended up just having the input jack and the strap button at 1/3 and 2/3 of the end, rather than having one hole in the middle. I had no desire to deal with the endpin jack button This would solve that issue..

Wish they'd come up with this before I had a straplock added to my 310ce!

Read about this solution from D’Addario on another thread here and it has been working very well. http://www.accessories.daddario.com/...6-c29ab0d76489

Thanks for posting that, I've been trying to re-find that genius piece of kit!

I use the wire in the jack slung back through the strap as a way of keeping the strap on the guitar.....that said, this does look interesting.

I would have a strong preference for that:)

At first I was thinking, "who really needs this?" and then I realized that I do. I think I probably need several of them. I have one on the way to try.

Every once in a while a manufacturer creates a product that solves a problem, in this case it’s Music Nomad. They sell three versions of the Acousti-Lok. I won a Taylor version and was sold as soon as I installed it. Ordered three more the next day.

I use 3/8" inside diameter with 7/8" outside diameter neoprene washers from the local hardware store at $.43 each. Put the strap on, then work the washer on the outside. Fender sells 'strap locks' that are similar but are more expensive, I guess it's the logo. I've only been using these for about 10 months so don't know how long the neoprene will last, but I've not had a strap come off yet. It also seems to keep the strap in place when picking the guitar up from the stand so no more rotating the strap to get it straight.

My last guitar I ordered with a sepparate strap button and pickup jack.
(button in the standard endpin location and jack rotated down 2") It was an Emerald, so no actual endblock. I hate trying to get a strap on an jack end. This is most intriguing. |
A couple of questions...
1) Does the back of the Acousti-Lok contact the guitar’s finish? I have visions of it marring the lacquer if it rotates. 2) Does it work with a standard button-hole in the strap, or is it necessary to use a Strap-Lock? I really do not want any heavy chunks of metal swinging around on the end of my strap, waiting to clatter into, and dent, the guitar. Thanks in advance... |
My local leather guy has two guitar strap hole punches, one for the standard end pin and another for the end pin jack. Both have a blade that makes the split that makes it possible for the strap to go on.
Why don’t manufacturers just put both sized holes in their straps? End of problem. |
