any info on the price of the archtops?
|
Reviving this thread, has anyone heard anything on timing of the release of these Waterloo archtops and/or pricing information?
|
I don't know much about arch tops but how does the volume compare to a standard flat top? What are the advantages of an arch top? Are they used more for lead work or can they be used for rhythm/chords?
Thanks! |
The main difference in terms of volume is that an archtop tends to project its sound forward while a flattop diffuses its sound at a shorter distance. The end result is that an archtop will carry further and a flattop may sound louder to the player.
Archtops can be used for any application that flattops are used for - chords, single notes, whatever. |
As to price, these are not going to be cheap. My guess is going to be in the $5k to $6k price range. Also, remember, as of June 1st, all Collings and Waterloo instruments will be 10% more. List price becomes the sales price.
To put the archtop price in perspective, the last used at16 went for right around $25k, and it sold within hours. |
