Anyone familiar with Brock Acoustics?

After seeing the write-up of his OM in this month's Guitar Player magazine, I checked out his website. Looks pretty good, but there's not much discussion or mention of Brock guitars on the internet. Anyone familiar with them? What do you think of them? What would you compare them to, tonally (if possible)?

I am expecting my first from Brock soon. I will report when its here.

Fletcher Brock?

Brock Johnston -- his OM got a Guitar Player Magazine editor's pick, and that got me curious as I had never heard of him before. Google turned up his website but not too much else. This is the website: http://www.brockacoustics.com/

Trevor, I'll look forward to reading/hearing your thoughts on your Brock.

Cheers!

Thanks for posting, Trevor! Beautiful looking guitar, that's for sure!

Any chance of asking you the tonal description of Pau Ferro?

Is it similar to Padauk by chance?

(I know you don't like describing tonewoods Trevor, but I had to!)

Trevor M 07-11-2013 08:16 AM

You're not going to be surprised by this answer... without having the same model by the same maker in both woods its hard to say, there's just too many possible variations to compare Brock's with a padauk guitar..

ewh2 07-11-2013 11:45 AM

Ha ha.

I kind of asked that question as a joke of sorts, I knew for sure you'd give such a answer! Sorry.

I'm planning a trip in August hopefully to TAMCO, I'll call to arrange a day or something.

This model and Ken's Padauk are two I would like to try in particular.

OK, looking forward to meeting you. I will be away 4 -13 August for Healdsburg but the shop will be open the usual hours.
