Trees--A Superior Version of "Polly On The Shore"
Here's a great version of that old sea ballad "Polly On The Shore" (author unknown--earliest version from 1744) by the band Trees, included on their January, 1971-released album "On The Shore."
Excellent vocals by Celia Humphris, who sadly passed away last year, with a beautifully paced, hauntingly passionate lyrical electric guitar solo at the end by lead guitarist Barry Clarke. Packs a memorable punch, indeed, IMOPE (in my own personal estimation). |
I usually stick to "Recording", the" General Acoustic Guitar discussion", "Custom Shop" and occasionally the "Classified."
But something compelled me to come and check out the "Listen" tonight. And so glad I was compelled. I had never heard of the "Trees" before. But I was immediately taken back to one of my most cherished times in life...when music was exploding in all directions. Listening to the Trees, I feel as if I did when I use to go to the Renaissance fair in Malibu California. Great times of innocence & hope. After listening to the track, I googled and found this blog which plays many other of their songs. https://musicaficionado.blog/2018/05...hore-by-trees/ |
Thanks for posting the link - these guys weren't quite up there with Fairport, but they were getting close, IMO.
