Music and Method Book: CGDGAD

Sandy Shalk and I are doing it.
128 pages so far.
Sandy will be adding more material
on jazz, groove, swing music, and method.
It's really shaping up to an entertaining
and informative read. It's given us a platform
to write in detail about this wonderful tuning,
but also about music and life generally.

Any idea as to when it will be released and which publisher?

Thanks.

Tony

El,

I am glad I did! This looks to be a very well researched and written book, probably the only one ever devoted to this tuning. I don't know that CGDGAD will be my main interest, but it will certainly be a part of what interests me in my musical pursuits. I have a guitar that I can keep in this tuning, ready to go.

I tried some of the TEF files in Guitar Pro 7.5, and they played just fine. Of course, they work quite well with tabledit too. I have both on my laptop.

Your youtube video devoted t this tuning, along with your book, should generate interest in this tuning among those here interested in exploring open tunings.

For those who may be reading this and considering the book, it is a deep, fun, dive of 300+ pages, including a lot of TAB music into just the one tuning, rather than spreading itself too thin over many tunings. You will know this tuning well if you decide to venture into this book. Along with the book, you get a whole collection of TEF files that cover the tunes in the book, giving you the TAB onscreen while the tune is playing. You can play these with either:

https://www.guitar-pro.com/en/index.php

or

http://www.tabledit.com/download/index.shtml

or

http://www.tabledit.com/tefview/ (the FREE tabledit file player)

Nice work!

Tony
