Replacing 1 tuner

So, my Breedlove has one bad tuner - the B string. It sticks in the same place every revolution, and I'm afraid it's going to eventually snap. So, I emailed Breedlove and they sent me a tuner to replace it.

My first question is, if I fill the hole with toothpick and glue, should I wait a day for the glue to dry, or will string tension keep the tuner in place?

My second question is, should I remove all the strings to keep the tension on the neck from being uneven while I'm waiting for the glue to dry?

If Breedlove sent you an identical replacement tuner, where does the need of toothpicks and glue come from?

Remove string, remove and replace tuner, restring. What am I missing?

I had always assumed it was better to fill the screw hole with some wood to give the screw something to bite. If I put the same size screw into a hole already reamed out to that size, won't it be loose?

No, as long as you're just doing a straight replacement, it should be perfectly fine. The screw is only there to prevent the tuner from rotating.

Alright, thanks. I have some woodworking experience, but not a lot of guitar repair experience.
