Night Fishing by Simon Fox

Hi all

I love both Simon's compositions and his playing although he remains a well kept secret it seems..

I have tried a few of his pieces before but having heard some lovely renditions of this one, decided to give it a go.

Recorded in my new treated space with two AT2020 mics in a spaced pair (closer than I normally do at about 30cm apart and angled out towards bridge and 12th fret) into an Audient interface and mixed in Reaper.

I hope you like it and thanks for listening and watching :-)

It's a really nice Simon song that I play too. Bravo for your interpretation

Thanks Remy - I saw your version while I was recording this one and enjoyed listening to it!

Very nice Wrighty. Your recording tone has jumped up a few notches.

When I retire I'm going to make some panels like you did. (Its on my "list" :D )

I also have a bunch of his tabs/tunes. Have you tried "Any Day Now"? It's on his Winter's Tale cd.

Beautiful sound, Wrighty. Nicely done.

Thanks Barry - appreciate that.

I haven’t tried that one - I have done A winter’s tale and currently working on The Fisherman.

Panels were really easy to make actually and have made a real difference - don’t wait!

Awesome and the entire presentation looks and sounds like it came from a pro studio. It seems you have reached a level many are trying to get to for their home recording setups. Thanks for sharing the music and your knowledge.

That’s very kind of you to say Bob - it’s a long journey and I am learning so much from the AGF and it’s amazing members with regards sound and recording.

Thanks for introducing me to Simon Fox! What a beautiful arrangement and so well played my friend. I really enjoy your playing style and song selections. Definitely what I’m aspiring to!

Very pretty Wrighty!

I have some of Simon Fox's CDs, and I do know this piece -- not to play it, but to recognize it.

Well done! It sounds great!

Glad to be of service - unfortunately Simon has taken all his recorded works off any of the streaming services so the only option really now is to buy the media in hard copy.

On the positive side however, all his tabs are downloadable at no cost from his website, so there are many options from moderately hard to don’t go there ;-)

I have often tried, but struggled with his pieces - but keep coming back.

I am working on one called The Fisherman right now.

Thanks for listening!

Thanks, as always, for the kind words and taking the time to listen and watch :-)
