Wooden guitar similar to a Rainsong?
I am curious to know what type of wood would be like owning a Rainsong, or have those types of traits?
I personally enjoy the classic series (JM1000) more than the unidirectional (CO-JM1000) I think what I am looking for is bright, with a lot of clarity. I want to know how you guys feel about about the Rainsong classical series. I personally found the CO-JM1000 muffled. I am looking for a wood alternative to the Rainsong. Crazy, as usually people are doing the opposite, but I am just trying to get a feel on your guys opinions. How would you describe the Rainsongs classic series tone? Maple for its clarity and brightness? Adirondack for its brightness? Taylor for its brightness? |
Interesting thought going the other way. I understand your liking the Classic Series, it is clear and bell like. To make a Rainsong more woodlike you do add materials that do "muffle" the sound, the positive term would be to add warmth. I think your idea of maple and the Taylor brightness would get you close.

I think it has mahogany neck, though. Is there something - stock - with a maple neck too? edit: ooops, looks like the 600 series Talors have maple in the neck too. I think my bich guitar is a step in the same direction. It has other shortcomings but I like its sound. |
I don't think you'll be able to find a wood guitar that's similar to the Classic RainSong models. Even if the wood itself had similar qualities, the wood guitar would be braced, the RS would not.
