Leonardo Buendia MD build!
Ever since i played a Somogyi MD at TAMCO I've always wanted one of my own! And after playing one of Leo's MD i was even more convinced i have to have one!
Well now that dream is coming true as i have a Leonardo Buendia Modified Dreadnaught coming into my possession very soon! Here are the specs - Soundboard, Swiss Alpine Moon Spruce Back and sides, Wenge Non Cutaway 14th-fret ebony fingerboard Rosette, solid ring wood choice bordered in purfling Bridge, hand carved ebony Bridge pins, ebony with pearl dots Saddle, Compensated FMI 2 1/4" Binding, ebony with black/white purfling End graft, triangular style that matches binding Top braces, Sitka spruce Back Braces, Mahogany Neck, one piece Honduran mahogany Nut, Laminated bone 1 3/4” Position markers, white side DOTS Headcap veneer, ebony and wenge Back of Headcap veneer, ebony Tuning Machines, Schaller M6 in gold with ebony buttons Fingerboard, ebony with ebony binding and white maple purfling Fretboard Radius, 20” Case, Custom carbon fiber Hoffee hardshell case Scale Length, 25.25" for MD Finish, nitrocellulose Lacquer Strings, John Pearse light .013-.053 Choices of wood was made mainly on the recommendation from Leo. He had a special batch of Moon-spruce and commented on its richness and headroom. I've never played a guitar with Moon-spruce top but i trust Leo on his choice! Wenge was chosen because both MD's I've played were made with it and....well i was very impressed as you can see! For the aesthetics i wanted something simple, stark and contrasted and let Leo decide on the outcome. And i couldn't be happier with the outcome. I wanted to start this thread sooner but work got the best of me until now so without further to do here are some pictures of the build! I hope you will enjoy watching this come together as much as i have! http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/r3Y0Uu.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/NEASiv.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/ZoboSM.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/pOe1Y8.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/aM5yBl.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/D2sGFh.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/EDNvQO.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/M2qM6t.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/zDjias.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/OMSwwG.jpg |

Very very nice! Congratulations. I see that the guitar is nearly completed, you must be very excited. Those are wonderful woods. One of Leo's simpler builds aesthetics wise, but very elegant nonetheless.
|
Love the restrained aesthetics....just a beautiful looking guitar.
