NMD: Apogee HypeMic
If you want to see the facebook live stream you need to join the Facebook Group (AGF Open Mic).
I’m interested to see so many people order the mic. I wish I got a sales commission. Lol |
Well what this mic will do for me is put studio quality audio track with my video clip, which means I don’t have to mess around with other mics into my Cakewalk program and into a separate audio track into Adobe Elements program, which will save me lots of time and aggravation.

Apogee currently has refurbished HyperMics for sale on it’s website: $319. I just ordered one.

Congrats! I hope you all enjoy them!

Dave, I know you like the Apogee HypeMic for live-streaming, but have you used it for recording as well? If so, how do you like it?

I can’t see this when I log into Facebook. Are you sure you have the permissions set so that people who aren’t on your friends list can view it? Is it still there? |

I think the AGF OMG is responsible for the permissions. I don’t have the file to upload anymore so I’ll try and figure it out on the Facebook side. |
Is it “If I Was a Carpenter” on a twelve string? It sounds great! Is that the HypeMic?

Yes, that was the video. And, yes, that was the mic. Thanks! |
Just listening to all three songs. I especially like the sound finger picked Martin six string.
I enjoyed the performance. Obviously not studio quality, but a really nice sound quality and balance. The level compression from the mic is way better than what the software would do without it. Any weakness in the sound quality is the bitrate and app processing that is beyond your control. Very enjoyable to listen to. It’s simple setup, and with Facebook Live or Zoom I believe that that is as good audio as is possible to get right now. I’m looking forward to getting mine even more now! |
Like I said before, there is a sort of "upper limit" to the sound quality you can get on Facebook Live or Zoom, and I think you are really close to it with the HypeMic and it's compression.
The one thing I am going to add to this equation to eke out just a little bit more is an acoustic amp turned way down just to augment the low frequencies and to add just a touch of reverb. I've been doing that with my Shure MV88+ and I like it very much, but I really like the analog compression of the HypeMic. The MV88+ does compression as well but it's digital and it doesn't seem to handle as much dynamic range as the HypeMic, although it does sound very good. I don't know that I would use that much (or any) level compression on a YouTube video, but it beats the heck out of the Facebook/Zoom level compression which you get otherwise! |

They probably are just selling the demos from NAMM or something.
