My description "borrows heavily" from a recent listing on eBay because it says what needs to be said. Yairi guitars are handcrafted in a Japanese mountain village workshop under the supervision of master luthier Kazuo Yairi. Alvarez Yairi guitars use choice tonewoods. The woods are naturally air dried and crafted with individually hand-shaped bracing and dovetail neck joints. This WY1 model is constructed of premium Hawaiian Koa and has a unique look as well as a warm tone. I believe it is solid Koa back and sides, but want to say I have not been able to confirm that belief. Some say the back and sides are laminate. I honestly don't know, but the wood grain is gorgeous in any case and the craftsmanship is superb.

Design innovations include an extended neck tenon for a wider range of rod adjustment. Descriptions of the design say it has a unique coupled bridge design that removes the forward pull from the bridge itself for greater stability and lighter bracing, leading to freer tone.

This model comes with the expressive System 600T MK II electronics (with built-in tuner) for superb acoustic-electric amplification. Other enhancements include a bound ebony fretboard, abalone rosette, multiple body binding, bound ebony headstock veneer, and gold die-cast tuners with amber buttons.

The guitar is similar in size to an OM. Alvarez calls it a "folk guitar."

The real beauty of this guitar, in addition to it's stunning looks, is it's performance on stage or in the studio. This is a "quiet" guitar when played unplugged. Plugged in, it is anything but quiet. Specs:

Trade for a banjo?

I'm looking for a banjo and would be interested in trading this guitar for one.

Great Yairi video. Good luck with the sale of that beauty!
