1996 Santa Cruz 000-42 - European / Brazilian - SOLD
A superb and incredibly open 'holy grail' guitar. Sounds far bigger than its small size with incredible bass and warmth due to the 12 fret body and Brazilian rosewood. The lightest touch on the strings results in symphonic beauty, a fingerstylists dream.
Very little fret-wear, the saddle is at an ideal height and playability is perfect. Was sold by Gryphon Strings a couple years ago and here is their description: This looks very much like a new guitar with the exception of the finish crazing. It's been strung up and played of course, but carefully, and shows only a couple of the tiniest of dings and a few, very light lacquer crazing lines below the bridge. The Brazilian is clearly the premium, quartersawn variety, with fantastic grain and color, what SCGC now describes as "Tier 1" and assigns a whopping $14,500 upcharge (retail). The European spruce adds another $750, so the wood upgrades on this guitar alone would come to $15,250. Then there's $2300 for the pearl bordering and the fingerboard snowflakes, plus an upcharge for Sloane tuners, which are twice the price of Waverly gears….good grief the new list price of this guitar would be almost $23,000. Comes with a TKL Vintage Series case, as this was made long before Santa Cruz switched to Ameritage cases. Pictures here - https://photos.app.goo.gl/8M4jnkQo9F6xvw7MA AGF Price is $Shipped PP F&F. There are no cracks in the guitar whatsoever, just the cosmetic crazing in the finish and light dings from use. Will ship in US only. |
