Circa OM German/Madagascar Build 2018

I meant to get this up a while back as I expect to take delivery hopefully in the next week. This has been about a 2.5 year wait to get this guitar, John is a busy man and in well earned high demand!

This is my first custom build after buying/selling some nice guitars over the years, John's guitars continued to stand out to me. His reputation among those that have experienced his guitars speaks for itself. I was looking for a traditional built OM that would be used mainly for finger style and some light strumming. I just asked him to build his best OM in the traditional sense that he is known for with his modern touch. I really don't know what to expect as I've only played one of his guitars and it was much older. Seeing Juston's guitar, DiamondDaves, and several others have been great to follow and have helped shape my build.

One of the things I'm really excited about is the lighter neck with a graphite truss rod and then getting the guitar Plek'd. This should really make the guitar light and add to the feel and tone I'm going after.

I've uploaded the photos I have so far and will add more of the finished product when I get them and hopefully some video's. Link to site: https://imgur.com/a/tAeJY

Woohoo! Congrats on the incoming Circa!

I love that Mad Rose! I'm a huge fan of John's radial rosettes, and yours is a beaut.

We want a full report when you get that guitar! Thanks for sharing!

Circa

Looking great so far Matt! Can't wait to see the finished guitar. I'm also anxious to hear your impressions of the guitar after you receive it, especially compared to the other guitars you own and which I have played.

I am sure your long wait is going to be worth it when you finally get to open that case.

justonwo 02-21-2018 11:01 AM

You’re going to be one happy camper.

antsdmb 02-21-2018 12:19 PM

Spectacular. I'm in the early stages of my build with John as well. The back has been joined and that's about it. Lol. I can't wait to hear your impression. I really dig that rosette design. I wasn't able to swing it on mine, but it gets me every time. Please keep us up to date. :)

Great choice of wood combination.

I have a growing interest for Circa guitars and will follow that thread closely!
Cheers,

that back and side set

that wood is so luscious! And so quartered and straight! Precious material to have the chance to transform into a guitar.

Got some more photos from John this week. Was supposed to get the guitar this week but John had to put it on hold to get a few guitars to finish for an upcoming show. Hoping to get this one out my way soon!
