Ha, I love to bring people down to my level of insanity!!!! Welcome, just embrace it and everything will be alright.

No problem with playing it, but once my fingers are so sore they no longer bend and my eyes are blurry from hours of non-stop tunes, I will at least have something to look at and imagine what I will see through the blur!!!

Back bracing has begun

Had two choices for Koa bindings, both nicely figured, one lighter, one darker. I went with the lighter for more contrast with the BRW darker colors as well as the ebony fretboard....I think both would have looked nice. Best kind of choices, would have been good either way!

Great choices!

We have very similar tastes in guitars-- my 2002 Kinnaird is like a 13 year old cousin to yours--

I trust you will be as thrilled with yours as I still am with mine after 12 years!

Wow, I pulled up the link. I love it. That BRW back is out of this world! I also love the super cool inlay with the moon and falling leaves with the leaf in the water, that looks great! Very tastefully and realistically done!!! Beautiful.

Bad news, Tom. Bob came for a visit and fell in love with your BRW set.
Last I saw him, he was headed north:

I'll look for something else that will be suitable.

So, maybe this won't be a direct substitute, but Tom we have to know what you see in this back?!

Steve

I'll tell ya what I see, trouble mister, that's what I see.

Mr. Tucker, I see that I have 3 choices, 1) The Texas Rangers 2) Homeland Security and 3) The FBI.....

This is your chance to turn around and do what you know is right and bring that BRW home to where it was born so it can grow up to be the guitar it was meant to be....ie...mine.

:D:D

TomB'sox 05-08-2015 04:53 AM

I think that back is even beyond my powers to find the hidden image!!!!

Resisting arrest!

Steve convinced me to turn myself in, by talking up my 'ultimate Kinnaird' guitar and its attributes (read: Braz et al). The one thing I am convinced I want (especially after playing one that is about to leave his shop) is a sound port. A guitar is built for the listener, not the player (with the sound hole facing away from the player). I want my 'ultimate Kinniard' to be for me and the sound port seems best to allow the player to get a better 'listen' - while not appreciably impacting the sound in front (some even say it improves the sound in front).

TomB'sox 05-09-2015 11:08 AM

Wow...did Steve put u up to that haha...I have been on the fence regarding a sound port!!!! He is again not sure of what I know to be brilliant ideas for one and I am not sure of the Oval shape!!!! Seriously though...you liked the back? I have not seen the sides yet.

Nemoman 05-09-2015 11:20 AM

Tom--I really dig the soundport on my Stehr. It's the first one I've had on one of my guitars, and it really does add another dimension and level of sound for the player. They're not for everyone and don't fit the traditional mold if that's what you're after, but I'd highly recommend it!
